1208 and 1220 Engineering Building

Located on the east side of the Engineering building, rooms 1208 and 1220 are state of the art, multi-media production studios available for your use. Connected by fiber optic cable to the Communication Arts building, activities in the rooms can be uplinked to satellite, used for compressed video (CODEC, PictureTel) or recorded for later use.

Room 1208 has the capacity for thirty nine students, while 1220 will hold forty five. Each multimedia classroom has it's own control room and equipment. Ideal for distance education courses, teleconferences, or cable course production, the facilities offer a wide array of production capabilities.

Each facility contains:

  • Broadcast quality switcher
  • Four robotic cameras
  • Audio board and CD player
  • Chyron character generator
  • Still Store and slide chain
  • S-VHS or VHS videotape machines

The instructor console at the front of each room houses a PC, camera for overhead graphics or text, monitors, and ample working area for most types of instruction. The instructor can operate the overhead camera or it can be operated from the control room by the IVS staff.

IVS's Engineering Building facilities are truly versatile multimedia classrooms. Staff professionals and students assist faculty with their courses or projects.

145 Communication Arts & Sciences Building

Located on the east side of the Communication Arts Building, room 145 is IVS's largest multimedia classroom. With capacity for ninety people, 145 Com Arts is large enough for most types of television production including distance education courses, satellite teleconferences, and cable course production.

The front area of the room is large enough for panel discussions or demonstrations. The console in the front of the room has an overhead camera for graphics and several small monitors.

Control room equipment includes:

  • Broadcast quality switcher
  • Three cameras
  • Still Store
  • Audio board and CD player
  • Chyron character generator
  • S-VHS or VHS videotape machines

204 Communication Arts & Sciences Building

Remodeled in 2006 and located on the south side of the Communication Arts & Sciences Building, room 204 is the smallest IVS multimedia classroom, with the capacity for twelve people in a conference room configuration.

204 Com Arts is perfect for small group videoconferences or distance education courses. The room is outfitted with a large screen projector for easy remote site viewing.

There is an Elmo overhead camera for graphics and a laptop with wireless internet access for web browsing or PowerPoint.
